The 12+8 adapter is for Autel's bypass of the car security gateway module (SGM), which limits aftermarket scan tools to only reading DTCs and viewing data.
2018 and newer, replacement for Fiat now have the security gateway module or SGM. This SGM does not allow your scan tool to have bi directional control of your vehicle. For Autel provides a cable that bypasses the SGM. The new 12+8 diagnostic cable communicates with the latest models replacement for Fiat and replacement for Alpha vehicles.
