It grows up to 2-5 ft tall (60-150 cm) and 2-3 ft wide (30-60 cm). It is a wonderfully exotic and easy to grow plant that performs best in full sun, in moderately fertile, humus-rich, moist, well-drained soils. Planting instructions: Amaranth plants are best grown in full sun. Choose a location that will receive at least 6 hours of full sun each day. Amaranth plants can be grown in containers. Use a good quality potting mix and make sure your container is large enough for mature plants. Amaranth seeds do not require any treatment (eg soaking, stratification) before sowing. Amaranth seeds grow best when they are sown directly into the garden. Sow seeds directly in the garden 1/8" (3 mm) deep and 24" (60 cm) apart. Keep soil moist but never wet or dry. Seeds should germinate in around 7-10 days at a soil temperature of 70-75 F (20-25C).
